"A Ramble" by Nu Gamma
Yup, this is the Millenium (yawn), as if the rolling over of a bunch of zeros is really all that significant. I mean, if we had four fingers on each hand, like those little grey guys with the wrap around eyes, no doubt we'd be counting in octal - and the year 2000 (or 2001 for the numerically correct) would appear somewhat less significant regarding its "digital" makeup.
But when it comes to the Millenium and the mass media's current obsession with aliens and the paranormal in general - like what's going on here? The great debate rages like never before . . . our biggest question: is there life out there? . . . .and if so are they really coming here? . . . and if so, how? . . . and WHY? Maybe THEY are seeking out intelligent life HERE. (?) And judging by the rampantly uncivilized behavior of the most visible agencies on the planet earth (military, governments, multi-national corporations), they are going to have to look a little harder to find it.
Meanwhile, media networks bombard us with . . . an education campaign? Is it just an attempt to win the ratings war? Or one disguised as the other? (Choose between paranoia and cynicism). The X-Files is winning some of those pesky awards. UFO societies are sprouting like mushrooms on damp autumn mornings. Kids could probably place Roswell on a map of the USA more easily than say, Denver, Cleveland, (but maybe not Seattle). The public are really confused: there are reports of UFOs everyday from somewhere or other. (That's alot of UFOs) . . . .And government agencies are yet again (yet again, yet again) telling lies. The Pentagon now has five "explanations" for the Roswell incident since 1947 (that averages one every ten years); utter pabulum, monotonously insulting to the intelligence -- at least four out of the five being outright lies, assuming one on these explanations is true. And this is all financed by the long-suffering taxpayers. So if our secrecy obsessed government is perpetually lying to it's population in the name of "national security", it begs the question "just who is the enemy". Considering that our military and government (and those of foreign nations - both friendly and hostile) more than likely know exactly what is going on, we the people, without any say in the matter, fund all of this paranoia and are left in the dark, apparently not qualified to handle the facts. To repeat: "Who is the real enemy?" We all live here; we only live once; and we all have the right to know.
So, how skeptical are you? Yes, I am extremely skeptical, and that skepticism is directed not only at the new age gobbledegook muddying the waters of legitimate enquiry, but also the integrity of those we elect to (laughingly) represent us in our alleged democracy. (read corporate feudal system). So, here's some relevant links to both sides of the story. Where do you stand?
