A Letter to Lois Capps:
A March for Peace

|
| On Saturday, we participated in a March for Peace. We heard about this on Friday night in an email. Apparently, the first anyone knew about it was Wednesday night and the word was spread person to person and via email. |

| Mayor Marty Blum marched with us and I spoke with her as we walked. I had the camera on of course. I wasn't sure what was going to happen. The group which had gathered across from the Farmer's Market on Cota Street seemed to gather steam as more people joined in. One estimate was that there were six blocks on State Street with about 100 participating per block. Having been at losts of rock shows, my estimate would be about 500 at its peak. |

| We continued down State Street turned the corner to the Courthouse and then back to State Street and into De La Guerra Plaza, in front of the Santa Barbara News Press Office. A group chant of "Tell the Truth" happened spontaneously as did most of this march. The March numbered between 250-300 at this point. No one knew exactly where we were going but it was decided at each turn. Then a small group, perhaps fewer than a hundred at this point, went on to Lois Capps' Office at Chapala and Cota Street, where we dispersed after the police politely told us that we were on "private property". |

I had two hours of footage which I captured and edited into a short piece which I presented to Channel 17 on Monday morning. It was the wrong length and on the wrong format so I went and got it and returned it the next day.
I also sent a copy to Lois Capps Monday morning, and left a copy in her office downtown. This 14:25 minute piece holds the voices of those who feel their voices are not being heard in the mainstream media. If you would like a copy of this video email me, and for my cost I will send you one or deliver it personally if you are in the neighborhood (Goleta, Santa Barbara). I believe that this is a face to face, door to door, person to person campaign. This campaign is for sanity, for peace, for creating a world in which we and our children can live, a world which is safe for all of us.
